Job Summary: In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe video content in Maori and English with precision, outlining clear timestamps.
  • Describe and interpret the emotional tone and intent of the speaker within multimedia content.
  • Analyze and document grammar, tone, and conceptual meanings in both languages.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality, insightful linguistic analysis and feedback.
  • Perform complex language tasks, supporting language preservation and cross-cultural understanding.
  • Ensure all transcriptions and analyses maintain strict confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
  • Contribute at least 15 hours per week to project work and collaborative meetings.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Fluent proficiency in both Maori and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in transcription, translation, or linguistic analysis.
  • Deep understanding of Maori language, culture, and contextual concepts.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to accurately capture meaning and tone.
  • Ability to analyze language at a complex and conceptual level.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities; self-motivated in a remote setting.
  • Committed to working a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in linguistics, translation studies, or a related field.
  • Experience working on multimedia or language research projects.
  • Active involvement in Te Reo Maori revitalization or community initiatives.
